He, along with his family settled in Amritsar, in when Brij was The brothers initially started a business by supplying components to manufacturers of bicycles. After India partition, the family permanently shifted to Ludhiana. Still now, Ludiana is a major hub of the production of components of bicycles.

Slowly the Mumnjal brothers expanded their distribution network and by early s, they started distributing cycle parts throughout India. Inthey shifted the business from supplying to manufacturing. They started manufacturing handlebars, front forks and chains. InMunjal brothers own a bid to manufacture cycles in Ludiana. By this time, Hero Cycles was registered as a large-scale industrial unit and capital was partially provided by Punjab government.

The one thing that takes most of his time these days is solving people issues.

His principle is simple—it never hurts to listen to everyone. It was his mistake. But I pacified him and told him to first set his house in order. Even at 90, Munjal still clocks at least six hours in office every day. Ask him why and he informs you that everybody asks him the same question. What will I do at home the whole day? The biggest thing is that I enjoy working.

I enjoy coming to the office and I look forward to the day. Munjal quashes that notion immediately. Nobody is complaining. Least of all his son, Pawan, who now has the task of proving that Hero is a lot more than just Hero Honda.
