Ragussis says her cooking style takes a little from her heritage—her father was Greek and her mother was Sicilian—and a little from the diversity of New England. Ragussis was born and raised in Derby, Connecticut. I was born on Thanksgiving Day—and my father brought a Thanksgiving turkey to the hospital. While living in Ashville, North Carolina, some 10 years ago, Ragussis decided she wanted to appear on the Food Network.

She packed her bags, moved to New York City, and vowed not to leave New York until she achieved her dream.

They are not allowed to watch TV, talk on the phone, or even read a book. On the show, she nailed it every time. She did win an episode of 24 Hour Restaurant Battle in [ 6 ] [ 7 ] with her partner Davina Thomasula, but their potential restaurant, Avery Point, never came to fruition. In March[ 10 ] it was announced that Ragussis would appear on the Food Network Star spin-off series Comeback Kitchenwhich gives eliminated contestants a chance to re-enter the competition for season Comeback Kitchen premiered on May 8, [ 10 ] but the premiere episode became available on demand in April Ragussis was born to an Italian — Greek family [ 12 ] in Derby, Connecticut[ 2 ] [ 3 ] but moved to Bristol, Rhode Islandto attend college.
